![]() ![]() but that is not a problem if u know the trick. However, the air, as other reviewers have mentioned, DOES quickly leak back in. I got the 20L one to keep my Marmot Col Membrain -20F (a BIG 800 fill bag) dry during winter backpacking trips, and it fits perfectly. ![]() I've had many dry sacks over the decades, but never one that vented the excess air out! until now. I bought two - one for me and one for my dog. It kept everything inside completely dry when I hooked it into my tube and let it hang in the water I am extremely impressed on how well it allow you to compress the items in the stuff sack - sleeping bag, clothes, etc. They had a lot of rain while they were camping this bag kept all his clothes nice and dry. I would highly recommend this!īought this for my son for camping with the Boy Scouts this summer. When it's time to pack up, this thing will fit most of my clothes in it, then easily slips into my backpack. When I'm not using it to store gear, I put my essentials in it, and use it as a carrying sack wherever I go. This is easily the best dry sack that I own. This would undoubtedly keep my things dry but I need something that compresses well. My husband bought a granite gear sack that does the trick and I will be switching. It doesn't do that at all, I could use this as a flotation device if I needed as it absolutely does not let the air out. Bought this product in the hopes to keep my gear dry and thought it would work well as it says that it compresses down and the event fabric will get the air out. This product does not get the air out as it promises. If used within the recommended guide lines this is the best "dry" sack I have ever used! Water does not come in through the e-vent with a slight vaccum, it comes in through the top. The manufacturer says not to, but just to see if compressed it could suck in water through the e-vent. I decided to test this product passed its recommended use, forcing all the air out while fully submerged. This is a great product to use for your down sleeping bag in case you fall into a river or need some dry clothes on a rainy day. Another plus, this sack even weighs less than the the 6L and 10L versions of the Ultra-Sil Compression Dry Sack that Sea to Summit also makes. I've found that even with out the straps, and just using a little weight, I can comfortable compress it down to about half it's volume, around 4 liters. I opted for this instead of the traditional compression sacks since I didn't want to bother with the additional straps. I got the 8L size of this for my REI Igneo 25 as I wanted something waterproof and more durable that what my sleeping bag came with. Bag qualities most useful for me were differing sizes and colors, excellent closure (and handle once closed), and stayed in closed position (meaning, although it wasn't a compression sack, it stayed closed to the final rolled position). Being a novice, I found myself reorganizing contents a few times until I had things where I needed them according to what I found to be the most comfortable daily routine. Multiple colors and sizes allowed the ability to segregate items based on use. I used these to store and organize pack contents. I would recommend this bag to anyone that needs a light weight yet durable dry bag. The air escapes through the bottom panel and keeps a vacuum on the bag while it’s closed. I really like the fact that you don’t have to burp the bag when you start to roll it closed. My gear was dry when we stopped to make camp. The first day out we had rain, sleet, and snow and the bag was exposed all day. I strapped it directly to my rear rack with no padding between the bag and the rack. I purchased this dry bag before a recent bikepacking trip in WI. For what it's worth, the 13L bag will fit an ENO DoubleNest hammock, ENO Guardian bug net, ENO ProFly, suspension lines and tent stakes with some room to spare. Once the air is compressed out there's a noticable volume decrease. Several days worth of casual clothes fit in a 25L and many changes of "unders" in a 13L. I use them mostly for travel (haven't tried air travel yet) instead of packing cubes. I have this bag in the 13L, 20L, and 35L sizes. Sea to Summit - eVAC Dry Sack Category: Backpack
